Employee Assistance Program

.....because family problems go to work with you.

Family Services' Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides a menu of interventions for both employers and employees.  The program functions as an employer-sponsored benefit that is offered to help employees address challenges that are affecting their work life.  These stressors range from family conflicts to personal issues such as depression or substance abuses.  Each company may customize the specific services offered.  Most companies utilize the EAP program to provide an assessment of the issue and explore possible options for handling the issue.  Options may include a referral for further assistance or treatment by another community resource.  Other companies contract for Brief Therapy or short-term counseling as an added employee benefit.

The EAP is also invested in helping employers and employees maintain or create a positive work environment.  This past year we provided multiple in-service trainings for employees and supervisors on topics such as improving communication between supervisors and their employees, building a workplace community, understanding harassment issues, coping with organizational change and identifying job burnout.  We also assisted employees in addressing supervisory-generated concerns regarding employee performance issues.
